  • 03/24—West Chester Democratic Committee approves this resolution:
    The West Chester Democratic Committee calls on the presidential campaigns' local representatives to transmit to their national headquarters our request that they avoid negative statements that could turn to the Republican nominee's advantage or discourage voters from coming to the polls. Democrats must take the current primary as an opportunity to bring out true issues (which do not include candidates' gender or ethnic and religious associations) and to strengthen our organizations and our outreach to all voters in critical areas like Chester County.

  • 01/06—Commissioner Kathi Cozzone Swearing In Ceremony. Senator Andy Dinniman gave the introduction, and Judge Jacqueline Carroll Cody swore her in.

2007

  • 11/06—Sue Bayne reelected, Cassandra Jones, and Jim Jones elected to West Chester Borough Council. Democrats now hold all seven Borough Council positions.
  • 11/06—Kathi Cozzone elected Chester County Commissioner.
  • 05/29—Cozzone Scott Team is formalized
  • 05/08—Bill Scott (Ward 1) wins the Democratic Primary for Chester County Commissioner along with Kathi Cozzone of Exton.
  • 01/02—Barbara McIlvaine Smith was sworn in as State Representative for District 156.

2006

  • 12/21—Barbara McIlvaine Smith was certified the winner of the election for State Representative, District 156, after a recount increased her total by another nine votes.
  • 11/28—Barbara McIlvaine Smith (Ward 5) wins election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 156th Legislative District of Chester County. Barb is the first Democrat from Chester County elected to the state House since the late 1980s.

  • 06/26—Borough resident Patrick C. O'Donnell was appointed Chester County Commissioner to complete Andy Dinniman's term of office. Pat was previously elected Commissioner in 1980, coincidentally the same year the late Senator Robert J. Thompson was also elected Commissioner.
  • 06/19—Andy Dinniman was sworn in as Chester County's first Democratic State Senator in a century.
  • 05/16—Andy Dinniman was elected State Senator to complete the term of Robert J. Thompson who died in January.
  • 05/16—Scott A. Smith was elected to Borough Council, Seventh Ward, to complete the term of Maria Chesterton who was forced to resign her position after taking a job in Harrisburg with the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

2005

  • 11/08—In the General Election, all four Democratic candidates for Borough Council won their races as did every Democratic candidate for Judge of Elections and Inspector of Elections.
