In our downtown
Holly has worked tirelessly since 1988 to achieve the balance of economic success, historic preservation
and strength of community we now enjoy
- KALY: Holly invested her life and her life savings which she earned as a highly
successful vice president of sales for the local Devault Packing Company in what is now one
of the longest-lived shops in our downtown. Her store has been in operation since 1988. This
pre-revitalization investment in KALY demonstrates Hollys vision and her unwavering
belief in our town and in its continued potential.
Holly managed her way through more then five years of financial loss to make her
KALY investment pay off all the while contributing her ideas to the downtown revitalization
effort, giving her time to our neighborhood and volunteer initiatives, and caring for her family.
- West Chester Historical & Architectural Review Board Award: historic renovation
of her 37 West Gay Street property owned since 1997
- Chamber of Commerce of Greater West Chester: Member
- Chamber of Commerce of Greater West Chester: Businessperson of the Year
- Downtown Main Street Association: member
- Citizens-Business Alliance: co-founder and leader
A key player in the highly successful revitalization of our downtown, she co-founded
the Citizens-Business Alliance to give citizens a voice in the revitalization effort. CBA helped
improve our economic base while preserving our town's historic charm and drawing in desirable retail
businesses and restaurants.
- Business Improvement District: advocate for creation and former board member
Holly helped get the Business Improvement District (BID) approved and served as a
board member. Today, the BID successfully promotes our downtown, helps rent second- and third-floor
apartments to good residents and businesspeople, and is working on a way-finding system for pedestrians
and traffic.
- Downtown beautification: energetic participant, includes large street planters throughout town
- First Block Four: As a member of the First Block Four, Holly fought tenaciously to prevent county government
from demolishing eleven historic buildings, some dating to the early 19th century. Thanks to these efforts,
we will soon have our new, widely-praised Justice Center on the West End where it will contribute to, rather
than undermine, the vitality of our towns retail and restaurant establishments. Taxpayers will also
realize the benefit of returning these government-owned First Block properties to private enterprise.
- Swingin Summer Thursdays: Holly conceived our award-winning Swingin' Summer Thursdays, when Gay Street comes alive
with outdoor dining, live music, clowns, crafters, magicians, and our neighbors, friends and families. When
the party is over, youll find Holly putting tables away.
